October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and this year LegalEASE is marking it with a simple promise: Reach for the Stars. Stand with Survivors.
For someone leaving an abusive relationship, safety is often a long way off. It might be a shelter across the state, a sister three states away, or a city where no one knows their name. Most survivors have already made the hardest decision, which is to go. What's missing is the ride.
Safety can be a long trip, and no one should have to make it alone. That is what our campaign is about this year.
The ride to safety
Families to Freedom provides free long-distance transportation for survivors of domestic violence and their children, by car or van, bus, plane, and fuel assistance. Since 2015, the nonprofit has covered more than 1.7 million miles of travel to safety, and survivors pay nothing for the trip.
Every dollar raised in our 2026 campaign goes to Families to Freedom to keep those trips moving.
Every gift goes twice as far
Our goal this October is $50,000. LegalEASE is matching every donation dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, so each gift does double the work.
Last year, 234 supporters helped us raise $51,828, which was 103% of our goal. This year, let's go further. Please give before the end of October.
